Pokemon LeafGreen (V1.1) ROM is the Game Boy Advance remake set in Kanto. It keeps the original regions, Gyms, and Pokédex goals, with access to the Sevii Islands after the League. This is the game data as released on GBA.

Running it on an emulator

Open the ROM with a GBA emulator, enable in-game saving, and (if needed) turn on link features for local trading and battles. That setup covers the path from Pallet Town to the Elite Four.

Gameplay

Core loop

Catch Pokemon, train a party of six, clear eight Gyms, then face the League. Battles are turn-based; type matchups, status effects, items, and held items shape most outcomes. Some routes and caves still require HMs.

Progression

  • Pokédex: log and collect 150+ Kanto species.
  • Badges: lift world map barriers and raise obedience caps.
  • Moves: manage TMs/HMs to adjust roles and coverage.
  • Post-game: the Sevii Islands add a few routes and tasks after the League.

Story setup

You begin in Pallet Town with an assignment from Professor Oak: travel across Kanto, study Pokemon, and complete the Pokédex. Team Rocket appears at Mt. Moon, the Celadon Game Corner, and Silph Co. The main arc ends at the Pokemon League; Sevii continues activity without changing the core plot.

Characters

Player and rival

You play a silent protagonist. The rival—Oak’s grandson—reappears throughout the journey with a team tuned around your starter’s counter to test coverage.

Professor Oak

Provides the starter and the Pokédex, and checks progress to frame the capture-and-document goal.

Gym Leaders

From Brock to Giovanni, each specializes in a type and encourages basic planning: bring answers, manage items, and adjust moves rather than brute force.

Team Rocket

Grunts and admins set up the dungeon beats leading to Giovanni, who also serves as the final Gym Leader. Their role is to create obstacles between badges.
