Mega Man 2 Rom is the USA version of the NES action game, stored as a 129.2 KB `.nes` file for most NES emulators. Dr. Wily escapes prison and builds eight new Robot Masters, while Mega Man can choose which stage to enter first. That first choice is not harmless. Beat the right boss early, and the weapon taken from them may tear through the next fight.
The First Boss Pick Keeps Causing Trouble
There is no fixed route through the eight stages, so the opening decision can shape several attempts after it. Every defeated Robot Master leaves behind a weapon that Mega Man can use elsewhere. And the game never explains which boss is weak against which attack. Testing the wrong weapon wastes energy, but the mistake usually sticks in your head.

Metal Man Makes the Room Feel Smaller
Metal Man sends spinning blades across the screen while Mega Man searches for a safe place to stand. The shots arrive quickly, and moving at the wrong moment can push him straight into another blade. Pretty nasty. His weapon becomes much more enjoyable once it belongs to Mega Man.
Quick Man Does Not Wait for a Plan
Quick Man moves before there is much time to settle into the fight. He closes the gap, changes direction, and punishes slow shots with another collision. But chasing him around the room usually makes things worse. A weakness discovered elsewhere can turn this frantic fight into something far shorter.
Stolen Weapons Matter More Than Score
The scoring system from the first game is gone, which keeps attention on stages, boss weaknesses, and staying alive. A Robot Master may absorb standard Mega Buster shots for most of the fight, then lose large chunks of health to one specific weapon. That difference feels almost unfair. And it makes every new attack worth trying at least once.
One E-Tank Can Rescue the Final Shot
E-Tanks refill Mega Man’s energy during a stage or boss fight, though wasting one after a careless hit still hurts. They matter most when the boss has almost no health left and Mega Man is in the same condition. The password system records defeated Robot Masters and collected E-Tanks for the next session. No long restart. Just a grid of dots showing that one spare tank is still waiting.
