Dead or Alive: Dimensions Rom is a Nintendo 3DS fighting release for the Citra emulator, provided as USA/EU .3ds or .cia files. Matches remain on the upper display, while the touch screen holds special-move commands and useful training data. Chronicle Mode retells the conflicts behind the first four Dead or Alive tournaments through several playable fighters.

Chronicle Mode Connects Four DOA Tournaments

Kasumi’s decision to leave the Mugen Tenshin clan sets the story in motion. She pursues Raidou after his attack leaves Hayate in a coma, despite becoming a target of her own clan. Raidou falls during the first tournament, yet Kasumi is taken by DOATEC afterward. That abduction opens the larger plot around Victor Donovan, genetic research, and the Kasumi Alpha clone.

Hayate Returns Under the Name Ein

DOATEC later abducts Hayate and uses him in genetic experiments. After a helicopter crash, he survives with amnesia and adopts the name Ein. Ryu Hayabusa eventually defeats him, restoring part of Hayate’s memory. Tengu and the traitorous Genra then draw Ryu, Hayate, and Ayane deeper into the conflict.

Alpha-152 Waits Inside the Tri-Tower

By the fourth tournament, the conflict has become a direct assault on DOATEC. Hayate, Ayane, and Ryu enter the Tri-Tower while Kasumi tries to stop the attack. Alpha-152 becomes the central threat as the building burns. Helena also learns that Christie killed her mother. Zack pulls Helena away by helicopter before the tower is lost, while Donovan takes Genra’s mask for himself.

Combat and Commands Occupy Different Screens

During every match, the upper display carries the fight. Supporting commands and technical information stay on the touch screen below. The split becomes most noticeable when moving between a regular bout and detailed practice.

Special Moves Sit Below the Fight

The lower display lists special fighting moves. Tapping an entry makes the current character perform that technique. Because the main action stays above, the command list never covers either fighter.

Frame Data Appears During Training

Training Mode can place in-game frame data on the bottom display. Technical numbers remain separate from the character models and stage. Performance also changes with stereoscopic 3D. Turning 3D off produces 60 frames per second. Once it is active, each eye receives imagery at 30 frames per second.

Arcade, Showcase, and Throwdown Have Little in Common

Chronicle Mode is only one use for the roster. Arcade and Survival change the match objective. Showcase and Throwdown step away from a normal tournament ladder.

Arcade Counts Time and Survival Counts Knockouts

Arcade Mode centers its matches on gaining additional time. Survival continues until every opponent is defeated or the current fighter is knocked out. Free Play is also present for matches outside those two conditions.

Showcase Treats Fighters as Photo Subjects

Showcase is not another sequence of opponents. A character model can be positioned on a stage and photographed in 3D. Saved shots move into the 3D Photo Album for later viewing.

StreetPass Builds an Opponent from Play Habits

StreetPass creates an AI representation based on the owner’s fighting patterns. That copy can challenge another owner through Throwdown Mode. The opponent they meet is shaped by how someone else uses the roster.

Ridley Stays Outside a 26-Fighter Roster

Dimensions includes 26 playable characters. Kasumi Alpha, Genra, and Alpha-152 move from earlier boss roles into unlockable fighter slots. Shiden makes his first playable appearance as another unlockable boss character. Series regulars include Kasumi, Ayane, Hayate, Ryu Hayabusa, Helena, Hitomi, Christie, and Zack. Many stages return from Dead or Alive 3 and Dead or Alive 4. A new arena based on Metroid: Other M keeps Ridley outside the roster as a stage hazard. Samus Aran appears briefly to aid the fighters.
